A word from Belgian Chief

To my "kids"
I was proud, proud, proud to have all of you in my group! It made me happy to see you smile and have fun. It made me even more happy to see you made new friends from all over the world. Thank you for making this summer camp into one of the best experiences ever! Please realise what a great opportunity you were given by Yazaki and keep this as a beautiful memory for the rest of your lifes.
Have a happy life and hope to hear your from you again

To our Japanese Chief Takuro-san
Your guidance was the best!! What an enormous present is given to the children! Not only the journey to Japan, but also the education of environmental care and more importantly making new friendship.
Thank you for making sure we all got at the right place on the right time. Thank you for making fun. Your smile is one we will never forget!

And finally I would like to say a short word to the parents:
To the parent I would like to express my gratitude of giving me the trust of taking care or your children for the last week. Each and every one of them was a real pleasure to get to know.

Final day: RETURNING HOME

Summercamp 2010 is over and time to go home.
We woke up early as the bus to the airported departed already at 05:20am.
The flight was long, but again we had the wonderful airbus on which we could watch some tv, play games, ... and have a good rest.

In Frankfurt we had to say goodbye to Julia, which was not easy.

The journey to Dusseldorf went very quick and it was so good to see our family and friends again!

The next few days we will have many stories to tell!!

Day 5: TOKYO DISNEY LAND

Of course we do not need to explain we were all very much looking forward to going to Disney land.
We arrived there at 09:00am and were able to enjoy the park until 16:00pm. It was very crowded and the queues were extremely long. Therefore we tried to get "Fast Tickets" in order to reduce the waiting time.
Some of our favorite rides were Space Mountain, Splash Mountain (it was hot enough to get wet any way...), Big Thunder Mountain,
In the parc we split into two groups. The German Ladies stayed with Takuro-san and the Belgian were stuck with Els... But during lunch we came together, so we would not have to miss eachother for too long.

After some souvenir shopping our visit to Disney land was finished... We moved back to the hotel where we had the final farewell party.

Several groups gave a performance (typical dances / songs of their country), which was great to look at. At the end of the show, we are started to say goodbye to eachother, which sometimes was difficult as we have been making so many new friends from all over the world.

Goodbye to all and thank you for a great week !!

Day 4: FAREWELL PARTY AND YAZAKI PLANT TOUR

Today we went to Yazaki's Guesthouse where a farewell party was arranged. We met Mr. Yazaki himself as well as ambassadors from several countries where attending.

So much food, in such a great garden... We got played several typical Japanese games, and then we lined up to get dressed into a Kimono... When it was our turn (Lisa was already holding the Kimono in her hands), we were told it was time to leave, so no.... we did not wear the Kimono...

Then we left for the plant tour, where we so the production of the wiring harnesses and we were explained what is actually the core business of Yazaki. It was impressive.

At 17:00pm we left and arrived finally at 21:00pm in the hotel, totally exhausted... But no worries, we are ready for tomorrow, as we are planning to have the greatest time in Disney Land...

'Till tomorrow!!

The hotel parc...

Day 3: KAMAKURA TOUR

We left our beautiful hotel at 09:00am to travel all to "Kamakura". At Kamakura we found beautiful temples and shrines.
Then we travelled by train (!!) to Kotoku-in to view the wonderful Boedha, of 13,35m height. That was impressive!!

We had lunch at McDonalds, so you can imagine we all enjoyed.

Tomorrow again will be an exciting day, as we will visit Yazaki's guesthouse for the farewell party... but that story will follow tomorrow

Bye for now...

Day 2: TOKYO METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT LANDFILL SITE...

What a busy day we had.
After breakfast we travelled to "Tokyo Metropolitan Government Landfill Site". It's the area where all garbage from Tokyo is being taken care of.

Then, we travelled toward "TOKYO TOWER", a huge tower of 329meter high. On top of the tower we had an impressive view of all Tokyo. We had our lunch on the bus, and had Kentucky Fried Chicken (Hamburger and fries)

acting crazy in the bus

Eating Kentucky fried chicken

Tokyo Tower bridge

After visiting the tower, we moved to "ASAKUSA AREA". A most lovely place having an old-town atmosphere and historic Buddhist temples.

Of course we were tempted by the souvenir shops, so we had to buy some items for friends and family at home.

Now we are washing up to go to dinner and after we have some recreation... So more to report tomorrow..

By the way, it is not warm in Japan, but it's HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!

day 1: ODAIBA TOUR

Today started early, with breakfast at 07:30am - nice breakfast by the way….
At 09:00 then, we had an orientation meeting during which some rules were explained as well as introduction of the Japanese chiefs. It's unbelievable, but in total 289 people have travelled to Narita to attend the summer camp.
29 countries are attending, that's a lot. And did you know this is the 22nd Yazaki Summer camp, and it started 22 years ago with only 6 Thai kids? Unbelievable isn't is?

Our Japanese Chiefs introducing themselves

After the meeting we jumped into the bus on our way to our first sightseeing. At Odaiba we got our first real introduction of Japanese food.... Some of us enjoyed it, some of us are missing McDonalds, French Fries or spaghetti... But we all tried some and maybe after 1 week of trying, we can all learn to appreciate the Japanese kitchen...

Our lunch

After lunch, we walked to "National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation". There we were surprised of Japan's science skills...

Once we finished our tour in the museum we got the opportunity to shop in a mall. Everywhere we could see Hello Kitty, again, for some of us lovely, but for some of us just too much....:-))
The tour was very interesting, we are absorbing as much as possible to get the most out of this journey.... but more to come...

and of course, we just need to share with you some pictures of the scenary.

Once back to the hotel - we are now staying in "Grand Prince Hotel" - we had a very nice dinner.
Takuro san taught us how to fold birds in paper, namely origami. Takuro-san explained us that 1000 is a lucky number in Japan, therefore each of the children had to make 4 birds, in order to obtain at least 1000 pcs... and that's what we did this evening.... Let's go for the good luck...
